The most observant of you will have noticed something straight away in our newsletter – our team has grown. From Tuesday until the end of November, we’re extremely happy to welcome Mélanie Cao!
A profile at the crossroads between feminisms and creation, solidly anchored in the associative and cultural network, with a long-standing familiarity with Voix De Femmes’ project – it must be fate! As part of our team, Mélanie will work on mediation for the next festival. Specifically, this means that she will make sure that our programme finds its different audiences in the best possible conditions.
Some highlights from her bio
A graduate in communication and performing arts, and more recently gender studies, Mélanie Cao spent several years working at D'Une Certaine Gaieté (counter-cultural and field investigations), where she coordinated the Sorcières (Sorceresses) cycle and worked as an editress for the C4 review. In 2018, she created the collective of feminist writings La Bâtarde along with three partners. Passionate about sound formats, she also makes podcasts (Rencontre Bâtarde, FFP2 Mon Amour).
In 2020, she finished her dissertation on the subject of Asian-American feminist activism during Covid-19; she is currently working on a sound research project on Asian feminism in Belgium. She is part of a support committee for the third editions of Journées du Matrimoine (Matrimony Days), and is also taking part in the emerging collective Féministes Asiodescendantes de Belgique (Feminist Women of Asian Descent in Belgium).
